Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month at the Pride Center

On Tuesday, September 24, from 6:30-8:00pm, the San Mateo County Pride Center is hosting a free, craft workshop “Self-Care & Connections in a Boxâ€! The event will be located at 1021 S. El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA 94402. Food will be provided! More details below:

September is Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month (SPM), which includes National Suicide Prevention Week (September 8-14) and World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10). This month, individuals and organization around the county join their voices to amplify the message that suicide can be prevented, and that resources are available to support ourselves and others.

San Mateo County Behavioral Health & Recovery Services (BHRS) is partnering with the San Mateo County Libraries, Peninsula Library System, and community agencies in San Mateo County to hose 20 free events and promote the #IMHEREFORYOU: Connection to Suicide Prevention Campaign that aims to equip individuals with words and resources to connect with those who may be thinking about suicide. This month, events include: support groups, informational presentations, volunteer opportunities, day or prayer, film screenings, and craft workshops. 

Date: Tuesday, September 24, 2019 

Time: 6:30-8:00pm 

Location: 1021 S. El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA 94402 

What: Self-Care & Connections in a Box! (Craft Workshop) 

Details: Take part in a night of fun arts & crafts by creating your very own personalized self-care and safety toolkit! Learn the basics of creating a safety plan for use in crisis and join us in guided reflections. 

Who: All ages, sexual orientations, gender identities, and allies welcome! 

All materials and craft supplies will be provided. Feel free to bring your own if you’d like! Food will also be provided!
