VOLUNTEER WITH US

The Pride Center is looking for enthusiastic, friendly folks who are passionate about the LGBTQ+ community who want to get involved and give back in San Mateo County.

We offer a variety of ongoing volunteer opportunities, and area also happy to create personalized volunteer experiences based on your skills, interests, and availability. We are also proud to host several volunteer committees listed below that welcome new volunteers year round.

Current Pride Center Volunteer Opportunities:

Gay Men's Group Co-Facilitator

We are currently seeking a volunteer co-facilitator for our monthly gay men’s Peer support Group! If you have a passion for creating and holding space for other community members to come together, build friendships and find social and emotional support, we would love to work with you! 

We are asking that community members who are interested in volunteering identify as gay men. facilitator experience is a bonus, but not necessary! Basic Zoom Experience is required. This group currently meets virtually on the fourth Thursday of the month from 6-7:30 PM. 

You will help provide:  

  • A safer space to share and be open  
  • A place to gather with similar community  
  • A group to have fun and be yourself  

You will receive:  

  • Training & Skills Building  
  • Ongoing support from the Pride Center and PFS  
  • The chance to build community!

Pride Center Front Desk/Receptionist

We are currently seeking a volunteers for the front desk at the Pride Center! If you enjoy creating a space for LGBTQ+ people and are friendly and outgoing, this would be a great opportunity for you to use what you enjoy and making the community feel safe!

We are looking for community members who are available on Wednesdays for 4-hour shifts in the PM. This person will be the bridge from the community to the San Mateo County Pride Center and making meaningful connections! You will receive skill building and training that will be you for this role and add this amazing opportunity to your resume and being part of the Pride Center Community!

You’ll learn and get to know first hand the amazing resources and services that we provide to the LGBTQ+ community in San Mateo County by making the connection to the Pride Center!

Current Pride Center Volunteer Committees:

COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD

The Community Advisory Board (or CAB, for short) is a group of volunteer members who have a passion for serving the LGBTQ+ community. CAB works closely with Pride Center staff to support programming, decisions, and design. LGBTQ+ folks and allies are welcome to join.

CAB meets on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 6:30 pm. For more info, email our Program Director, Frankie Sapp (he/him), at [email protected]. CAB is fab!

EVENTS COMMITTEE

The Pride Center is proud to host monthly events for the community! From intergenerational dinners to co-supporting panels, we work hard to engage and plan events that reflect the diversity of the county. If you are interested in brainstorming, planning, or graphic design support, consider being a volunteer for our events!

YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD

The Youth Advisory Board is an opportunity for youth to showcase and develop their creativity and leadership skills. As a member of the Youth Advisory Board you will work with fellow youth leaders to build and create community spaces for LGBTQ+ youth.

    The San Mateo County Pride Center is currently operating remotely and beginnning of NEXT week, April 4, our official on-site hours of operation will be the following:

    Tues – Thurs, 11:00am – 7:00 pm, except Tues between 1 pm – 3 pm will be closed for meetings.
