Join San Mateo County Pride Center and Banyan Tree Women’s Collective for this healing event in honor of Suicide Prevention Month.

Collective care in challenging times is the most important action you can take to protect your mental health. In honor of Suicide Prevention month the Banyan Wellness Team invites you to join us for 90 minutes of sound healing, breathwork, meditation and journaling. Come as you are with an open mind to embrace stillness and rest while being witnessed by your community.

Please bring a yoga mat, blanket, and pillow as you will be lying down for most of the experience. You can improve your experience by preparing in the following ways:
\- Come with a digested stomach
\- Bring your thermal mug for tea
\- Water bottle
\- Journal and Pen
\- Optional eye mask

Join San Mateo County Parks Foundation, CORA, and the San Mateo County Pride Center for a mindful walk in Memorial Park. This hike will take place Saturday, September 26th from 1-3:30pm and will be led by a certified Forest Therapy guide.

Memorial Park is a unique and magical park surrounded by old-growth redwoods. It offers picnic areas, a nature center, a camp store, campfire programs, and the beautiful Pescadero Creek that winds through the park. Known for its family-friendly camping areas, Memorial Park is also home to the scenic Tan Oak and Mt. Ellen Nature Trails, making it an ideal location for a restorative Forest Therapy experience.
Forest Therapy is a guided practice of slow, mindful walking in nature designed to reduce stress, improve mood, and foster a deeper connection with yourself and the natural world. Rooted in the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku ("forest bathing"), it invites participants to slow down, engage their senses, and reconnect with nature. No hiking experience or special level of physical fitness is required.

What a Session Looks Like?
A certified Forest Therapy guide leads the group through gentle, easy-paced invitations, simple prompts that encourage participants to notice the sounds, sights, textures, and sensations of the forest. Sessions typically last about two hours, and no special gear is needed beyond comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.
The pace is relaxed and non-competitive. This is not a workout or a hike with a destination, but an opportunity to be present, restore your mind and body, and experience nature in a meaningful way.

Join mindfulness teacher Mar Munn for a 90-minute interactive workshop with playful ways to get to know each other, guided meditation, gentle movement, and reflection. We’ll explore belonging and community, and consider what helps us feel welcomed, supported, and at ease with ourselves and others.
No meditation experience needed — just bring yourself, your curiosity, and something to write with!

Mar Munn (they/them) has been teaching mindfulness, meditation, and embodied practice since 2017. Mar works with communities of adults and youth navigating stress, transition, and collective struggle. Join Outlet, SMCPC, & SMC Parks for this free event at Edgewood Park, open to all ages, with a focus on LGBTQIA youth and/or their families!

Community members are welcome to join us for:

• A 1.5-2 mile hike around Edgewood Park (\~*1 hour and 30 minutes*)
• A Q&A Session with Natalie Krug\* (she/her) (*\~30 minutes*)
• Arts and Crafts Activity + Opportunity to explore the Visitor Center (*\~45 minutes*)

\Natalie Krug (she/her) is the San Mateo County Arborist and Urban Forester. Her love of nature brought her into a career caring for trees. In her free time Natalie spends her time caring for two young daughters, camping, playing ice hockey, and spending time in the forest.*

RSVP is required for this event. All participants, including children, must be registered individually.
