Join San Mateo County Parks Foundation, CORA, and the San Mateo County Pride Center for a mindful walk in Memorial Park. This hike will take place Saturday, September 26th from 1-3:30pm and will be led by a certified Forest Therapy guide.

Memorial Park is a unique and magical park surrounded by old-growth redwoods. It offers picnic areas, a nature center, a camp store, campfire programs, and the beautiful Pescadero Creek that winds through the park. Known for its family-friendly camping areas, Memorial Park is also home to the scenic Tan Oak and Mt. Ellen Nature Trails, making it an ideal location for a restorative Forest Therapy experience. Forest Therapy is a guided practice of slow, mindful walking in nature designed to reduce stress, improve mood, and foster a deeper connection with yourself and the natural world. Rooted in the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku ("forest bathing"), it invites participants to slow down, engage their senses, and reconnect with nature. No hiking experience or special level of physical fitness is required.

What a Session Looks Like? A certified Forest Therapy guide leads the group through gentle, easy-paced invitations, simple prompts that encourage participants to notice the sounds, sights, textures, and sensations of the forest. Sessions typically last about two hours, and no special gear is needed beyond comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. The pace is relaxed and non-competitive. This is not a workout or a hike with a destination, but an opportunity to be present, restore your mind and body, and experience nature in a meaningful way.

Come connect with others, get curious, and explore what helps you feel at home. Join mindfulness teacher Mar Munn for a 90-minute interactive workshop with playful ways to get to know each other, guided meditation, gentle movement, and reflection. We’ll explore belonging and community, and consider what helps us feel welcomed, supported, and at ease with ourselves and others. No meditation experience needed — just bring yourself, your curiosity, and something to write with!

Mar Munn (they/them) has been teaching mindfulness, meditation, and embodied practice since 2017. Mar works with communities of adults and youth navigating stress, transition, and collective struggle. Join the San Mateo County Pride Center as we explore our local history with our Out & About events.

This is part of a series of community gatherings at locally owned or friendly LGBTQ+ businesses. This month, we will meet at GLBT Historical Society Museum for a self-guided group tour to celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month. 

Join us at 11 am on Saturday, October 3rd. Cost is $5 per person, but no registered community member will be turned away for lack of funds.

While the majority of the GLBTHS museum’s content is family-friendly and appropriate for all ages, the museum does contain some sexually explicit material in a few exhibits. The “South of Market: San Francisco’s Leather Scene” exhibit in the rear left corner of the main gallery displays some sexually explicit graphic posters as well as video footage from leather and kink events such as Dore Alley and Folsom Street Fair.

Get FREE help with gender affirming care/garments, housing, mental health referrals, and more! Everyone is welcome, you do not need to bring clothes to take clothes, but if you do bring donations we ask that you limit it to the equivalent of one IKEA sized bag. Join us on October 20th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm for a panel discussion on coming out and/or supporting a loved one in coming out at LGBTQ+ in today's current political climate. After the panel we will be hosting a training on effective allyship as well as case management resources for folks seeking support in coming out.
