• QTBIPOC Group (14-25)

    The QTBIPOC Group is a peer support group for Queer, Trans*, Black, Indigenous, People of Color ages 14-25. This group is a safe community space dedicated to exploring, supporting, and educating ourselves and others on the intersectionality of being LGBTQ+ and of Color. This group is English speaking.

    This group meets weekly on Tuesdays from 6-7:30pm on Zoom.

  • Community SOGIE 101 Training

    It's almost Pride Month! Whether you're at the start of your journey to become an LGBTQIA+ ally or would just like to brush up on your terminology, we invite you to join us for this FREE community training!

    Join us for SOGIE 101 on Tuesday, June 8 from 6-8PM on Zoom.
    SOGIE stands for Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity/Expression and can sometimes be interpreted as LGBTQ+ 101. We are excited to be co-hosting this training with our partners at Outlet of Adolescent Counseling Services.

    In this training we cover the basic terminology for sex, gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation through engaging videos, matching games, and polls. We also touch on extended topics like gender-neutral language, pronouns, and cultural humility. After every training, we provide follow-up resources either highlighted in or similar to the content in our training.

  • LGBTQ+ Parent Peer Support Group

    This group is a free group open to all LGBTQ+ folks age 18+ who are parents of kid(s) 0-17 years old as a place to support each other, share parenting wisdom, and build community. This group is for parents who identify as LGBTQ+. If you are a parent of a child who identifies as LGBTQ+, please visit PFLAG for additional resources and more. For information about SMC’s local PFLAG chapter, click this link.

    This group meets on Zoom on the first Tuesdays of the month from 7:30-8:30pm

  • LGBTQ+ Book Club: Less by Andrew Sean Greer

    The San Mateo County Pride Center and Peninsula Family Service co-host the LGBTQ+ Book Club in partnership with San Mateo County Libraries.

    Participants can expect to read both classic and contemporary books in an array of genres that feature LGBTQ+ characters and/or are written by LGBTQ+ writers. It’s open to everyone ages 18+, with folks 50+ strongly encouraged to attend!

    This group meets on the first Wednesday of the month from 4:30-6:00 PM on Zoom.

  • Part 1: Virtual Legal Name and Gender Change Workshop

    **SPECIAL DATE: The June 5th workshop is held one week ahead than usual.**

     
    What is the name and gender marker workshop? We will guide you through each step and help you prepare the necessary paperwork to legally change your name and gender markers. This workshop is FREE and open to all ages, parents and under 18 welcome.

    We're excited to offer our workshops twice a month! Workshops are now separated into two parts.

    Part 1: We'll provide an overview of the process and cover the important first step of filing for your court order. In this session we'll answer your questions, prepare your court paperwork together, and walk you through how to file. Part 1 Workshops are held the 2nd Wednesdays of the month from 6-7:30pm.

    Part 2: In this second session, we'll review steps to take after receiving your approved court order; how to update your name/gender markers on your IDs, Birth Certificates, Social Security, Passports, and more. Part 2 Workshops are held the 4th Wednesdays of the month from 6-7:30pm.
